This book is intended to answer some of the health questions parents/guardians may have now that their child is starting school. The book is divided into six sections: Off to a Healthy Start suggests things parents/guardians can do to keep their child healthy at school School Health and Safety covers a child’s health needs for school Healthy Eating contains information about the Food and Nutrition Policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools as well as ideas for healthy breakfasts, lunches and snacks
Keeping Kids Healthy offers information that parents/guardians will find helpful as their children move through the school years. Preventing the Spread of Illness tells parents/guardians about diseases that they may hear more about now that their child will be spending more time with a larger group of kids. Public Health Services offers a list of addresses, phone and fax numbers to contact for further information. We hope the information in this book will help parents/guardians and their children to have a healthy start in school. Parents of Primary students and parents with children entering Primary in Nova Scotia can get this book free of charge from their local Public Health Services office. 58 page
